Mod Rewrite Generator by GenerateIt

Every web developer knows that SEO friendly URL links are a must. But not every developer likes to write Apache’s mod_rewrite rules to have links nicer. Regular expressions sometimes annoy, but the Mod Rewrite Generator can save your time and troubles by generating desired rules in a while.

The Apache module mod_rewrite converts URLs in a certain format to another format, and can be very useful in helping a site with dynamic content to be indexed by search engines. The Mod Rewrite Generator can be used to turn dynamic URLs into search engine friendly static URLs. All you have to do is just enter your dynamic URL and click Generate It button to generate your new URL.

Mod Rewrite Generator Example

  • Original URL:
    http://www.domain.com/cgi-bin/shop.php?cmd=product&category=vehicles&product=bus
  • Rewritten URL:
    http://www.domain.com/shop/vehicles/bus.html

But it wouldn’t be very usefull to have just one link rewritten, would it? The Mod Rewrite Generator uses this rewritten link as a reference only to show you how your links will look when you apply the rules suggested at the bottom of its wizard page. So, just copy and paste the Rewrite Rule textarea content into your .htaccess file and now all your dynamic links will be transformed to static ones automatically.
