ALPHA CMS 2.2: Review

Designing web pages, creating add-ons and also the various CMS couldn’t ever be as easy as it is using the ALPHA CMS. ALPHA CMS – An MVC based A.P.I Content Management System is mainly based on JavaScript, PHP, Smarty and MySQL.

The downloadable version of the ALPHA 2.2 version is now available and ready for your use. The up gradations are completely automated that makes it extremely user friendly. You can thus update within a short time from your 2.1 version to the latest 2.2 release. The entire up-gradation remains the same no matter if you are simply upgrading a test version of your APLHA 2.1.x site or the new 2.2 system.

Well, if you are simply planning of using these new features in your 2.2 system, just Don’t waste your time and instead test the functionality as per your requirements. This is the best time for you to review and test these features and hence ensure the credibility of the ALPHA 2.2 version. The non-developers can simply contribute their share by actually testing the simplified up gradation process against the previous 2.1 version.

Please note: This release is specifically known as Alpha 3. The Alpha 2 version was immediately pulled back after it was released on Sourceforge. So, relax and stop thinking of missing an important release. If you have grabbed Alpha 2 and installed it just of recently – it is my recommendation that you install Alpha 3 and run the provided upgrading script as offered in the documentation.

The 2.2 Alpha 3 provides you a better version with 30 improvements and the bug fixes against the ALPHA 1 version. The other highlight included in the new version is the Soft Credits Import feature. The feature allows you to tag imported contributions in form of “Pledge Payments”. It also permits you to assign or carry forward the soft credit to another person. IF you haven’t yet checked this new version, make sure you take some time out and go through its features and uses.
